This will truly tell if you are a sci-fi junkie. If you remember the old television series Space: 1999, you get some extra geek cred. This was one series that I believe truly needs a reboot and I have gotten my wish. ITV Studios America and HDFilms are teaming up to reimagine the campy sci-fi series from the seventies.
The original series, which starred Martin Landau, dealt with a now colonized Moon which was blown out of its orbit with the Moon into an unknown sector of space. Yes, does that not sound awesome? The series has been available on DVD for a while and it is truly in need of a reboot.
HDFilms’ Jace Hall, who executive produced ABC’s reboot of V, is executive producing the new project. Hopefully they can do a better job than they did with V. I am looking forward to hearing some more news about this and if you love corny British sci-fi television from the seventies, go out and rent Space: 1999 tonight.
They are remaking The Munsters now too. It has been shown that TV show remakes usually fail, so how about using just a tiny bit more creativity and try crossover remakes that would combine two or more old shows? I give a list of amusing or horrifying suggestions in a post at http://www.ragingwisdom.com/?p=704 Enjoy.
