Sin City Sequel Gets A Release Date

I know we heard a lot about Robert Rodriguez returning for the sequel to Sin City, which was released back in 2005, but there were still people that weren’t convinced it was officially happening. Not that I don’t blame those people, we had yet to hear about any official press release for the film, much less given a real release date. Well, we finally got one.

Nine years after the original release, the officially titled Frank Miller’s Sin City: A Dame To Kill For has been given an October 4th, 2014 release date. Production of the film will begin this summer, but according to Cinema Blend, it seems that the film will have a lame factor. Yes, it will be in 3D. While Jessica Alba and Mickey Rourke have been officially signed to return, they claim that there will be more stars in the film.

I truly loved the original style the film used and using the 3D effect will cheapen the noir style that the original created. Not to mention, I watched The Avengers in 3D IMAX last week and actually thought it looked so much smoother in 2D. I just don’t think the technology is truly there to capture intense action scenes in 3D.

In any case, I am happy that Robert Rodriguez is actually getting his chance to do a sequel. God knows we have been hearing about it since the release of the original film. Although, many people have waited nine years since they saw it in theaters for a sequel. Will it retain much of the impact the original had or will it look unimpressive in nearly the decade since we saw something this new?
