GameStop Rolling Out Auto-Downloads to Replace In-Store DLC Purchases

GameStop has a service where you can buy DLC from their stores. They give you a code and you put it into your system and viola, you are allowed to download the DLC. You may not have realized this service was in place because you just bought your DLC straight from your game console. Its ok to make sense sometimes.

GameStop will be rolling out a new service to replace their old DLC-buying methods which will allow customers to buy download content (for the Xbox 360 only at this time) in a much easier way. Once purchased, the customer will receive an email with a link that will send and start the download to their Xbox 360.

The official Xbox website has a very similar function where you can buy anything off of Xbox Live through the website and it will attach the download to your Xbox Live account. Once you turn your console on the download will start in the background. Its amazingly simple, which is something that people love. GameStop is the first third-party to utilize this function.

Will people like this system over putting in a 25-key code to get DLC? Of course they will but the fact still stands that buying the DLC off of your console is easier. There are those that don’t like entering their credit/debit card information into their Xbox 360 so this system is perfect for them.
