More and more people are moving away from the tradition way of watching TV through a Satellite or Cable provider and going to streaming internet TV. Its cheaper and offers more content that you can’t get through other means. While Netflix and Hulu can be accessed through the Xbox 360, PS3 and Wii U, it’s the Roku line that takes it to the next level.
The third generation of the Roku, simply called the Roku 3, is here and its a big update from the Roku 2. First thing to notice is the redesigned casing which favors a sleeker look over the more Apple TVish looking box. THe device comes equipped with Ethernet and USB port as well as a MicroSD slot for adding memory space. While Roku hasn’t released any hard specs on the model, they have said it’s the most powerful Roku Streaming player to date.” This makes sense, since its, you know, the new one.
It’s not only the hardware that gets a facelift either with a new and improved UI making its debut on the unit. The new UI will be set up to view the over 750 channels available with ease being able to display nine different channel icons at once. If you still think there aren’t enough channels Roku has just announced the addition of Fox Now, PBS and PBS Kids to their line up.
If you want a streaming only device then this is the pick for you. There is so much content available that you shouldn’t have an issue finding something to watch at any given time. The Roku 3 can be picked up through Roku.com or Amazon for $99.
