Apple Officially Bans Fake Antivirus Apps From App Store

Apple has decided to put an end to fake “virus scanning” apps that have been a problem in the iOS App Store for some time. According to 9to5Mac, Apple has updated its developer app review guidelines for iPhone and iPad App Stores, which includes a crackdown on scammy iOS apps, such as virus scanners.

The ban is devised to reject apps that claim to “including content or services that it does not actually offer”, due to the fact that third-party apps cannot actually scan iOS. The sandbox that Apple uses for their iOS does not allow for interacting between the apps and the core operating system.

Apple has always been hard on rejecting apps for various reasons. Earlier in the year, they began removing fake anti-malware and anti-virus apps from the App Store. However, this is the first time that they implemented it in their guidelines. Now, if we can work on that Google Play and Windows App Stores…
