During their E3 presentation, Microsoft announced that original Xbox console games would be offered as backward compatible with the Xbox One. In the last couple of weeks, we reported that the plan was to begin it this year since we had no news on that front since E3. However, on Monday, Microsoft announced that it will be offered this week.
Even though there are still two weeks until the release of the Xbox One X, the idea that original Xbox games will be backward compatible when they grab their consoles is an awesome bonus. On Tuesday, 13 original Xbox games will be available for backward compatibility.
This is the full list of original Xbox titles coming to the store tomorrow and will be $9.99 each. However, if you have the original discs, you should be able to insert them into your device and retrieve the game.
Here’s the full list of original Xbox games coming to the store tomorrow:
- BloodRayne 2
- Crimson Skies: High Road to Revenge
- Dead to Rights
- Ninja Gaiden Black
- Fuzion Frenzy
- Grabbed by the Ghoulies
- The King of Fighters Neowave
- Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time
- Red Faction 2
- Sid Meier’s Pirates!
- Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic
Don’t expect every Xbox game to be made available. “A curated list of key games was the way to go with this,” Xbox’s Bill Stillwell told IGN. The predictable combination of missing contracts and music licensing, exacerbated by defunct publishers, is to blame, according to Stillwell.
