With the coming of Warner Bros. Justice League, it is obvious that Batman is kind of everywhere right now. If you happened to be at BeyondFest this last week, you may have caught the big-screen re-release of 1993’s Batman: Mask of the Phantasm. Not only that, but Warner Bros. Even released it on Blu-ray this past summer. Finally, the television series that started it all is coming to Blu-ray.

Batman: The Animated Series is being released on Blu-ray in a remastered collection in 2018 from Warner Bros. Home Entertainment. The announcement came during the “Batman: The Animated Series 25th Anniversary” panel at the New York Comic Con.

Aside from the announcement from long-time animation publicist Gary Miereanu, there are no specifics like release date, price point or special features. However, you can guarantee that there will be more as we get closer to 2018.

Great List

The original series ran from 1992 to 1995, with follow-up series The New Batman Adventures airing from 1997 to 1999, for a total of 109 episodes. The panel celebrating the show’s 25th anniversary was attended by Batman voice actor Kevin Conroy, The New Batman Adventures Batgirl voice actor Tara Strong, and Batman: The Animated Series producers Bruce Timm and Alan Burnett.

Shortly after Batman: The Animated Series, the WB released a companion series Superman: The Animated Series. If you have never checked out the series, you are doing yourself a disservice. This is the series that gave us Mark Hamill as The Joker and introduced the world to Harley Quinn. I think you may have heard of her.
