A month ago, we got the reveal of Call of Duty: World War 2. On Monday night, Sony revealed the gritty and highly bloody multiplayer mode of the game. Going back to its roots, players will be back in the European theater in 1944 and 1945.
It features an American platoon as well as a cast of side characters including women resistance fighters, a soldier in an African-American unit (the U.S. Army was still segregated in WWII), a British officer and even a child. Its story is told from the point of view of Ronald “Red” Daniels, a rookie Private in the United States Army, 1st Infantry Division, also known as the “The Big Red One” and “Fighting First.”
This is the first game to be set in World War 2 since 2009’s Call of Duty: World at War, that game was set in the Pacific campaign. The series was originally set in WWII but has become focused on other time-frames, most particularly the future. Developed by Sledgehammer Games, it’s due to be released on Nov. 3 for PlayStation 4, Windows PC and Xbox One.
