For those of you geeks that actually know sports, while some may not consider you a geek if you have any familiarity with sports, we do not consider you any less of a geek. AT&T revealed this weekend that they will air 25 MLB games in 4k this season. Surprisingly April is nearly upon us and that marks the start of the 2017 Major League Baseball season. DirecTV has something for you, if you have a 4K TV and some other things.
“The DIRECTV and MLB Network 4K team knocked it out of the park last year with extraordinary coverage,” said Dan York, chief content officer, AT&T Entertainment Group.
“We’re bringing the 4K UHD experience back for MLB fans this season, so they can enjoy the games almost as much as if they were there.”
The 25 games that will air in 4K begin on April 4th with the Cubs versus the Cardinals and they note that there will be five games in 4K in April alone. Although, you will need to make sure you have the proper equipment to view.
Obviously, you need DirecTV and a 4K television. You will need either a Genie HD DVR, that is natively 4K ready, or a 4K Genie Mini and must have at least the Choice programming package.
“Last year’s 4K production with DIRECTV put MLB Network at the forefront of implementing new technology. We’re excited to work together again to elevate our MLB Network Showcase telecasts for DIRECTV customers throughout the 2017 regular season,” said MLB Network President Rob McGlarry.
Here is the line-up for April:
- 4/4 – Cubs @ Cardinals
- 4/12 – Dodgers @ Cubs
- 4/21 – Nationals @ Mets
- 4/27 – Yankees @ Red Sox
