Earlier in the year, Nintendo announced the release of their SNES Classic Edition to follow-up their NES Classic Edition from last year. Unfortunately, Nintendo learned nothing from the previous year when they released the retro console. Fueling speculations that Nintendo likes to artificially create demand for their products. However, they claimed that they will be making more of the retro consoles for the holiday season, but it seems like things are still the same.
As we are in the week of Black Friday, demand for this console is high but good luck trying to find one. Toys R Us announced that they will be receiving additional stock of both the SNES Classic Edition and the Nintendo Switch during the week of November 27th. Don’t expect there to be many of them and they will not be available online.
In a blog post, Toys R Us will have some SNES Classic in stock on November 27. The restock is slated for their brick and mortar locations across the United States. On the 29th, they will receive new shipments of the Nintendo Switch. Those consoles will be in high demand, so get there early.
Best Buy announced that they will be having the SNES in stock starting tomorrow, November 25. Like Toys R Us, they will have “limited quantities” and will be on a first come, first serve basis. Best Buy will open their stores at 9 a.m. local time. Here are their instructions:
“The Super NES Classic Edition will be sold on a first-come, first-served basis. Our stores will offer a ticketing process before we open for customers waiting in line – the same ticketing process we’ll offer for the Saturday doorbuster deals.
“We will only pass out as many tickets as we have systems available, with a limit of one per customer. Super NES Classic Edition will not be available on BestBuy.com.”
Keep in mind that there will be virtually no Black Friday/Cyber Monday deals on either of these consoles. Their demand is too high to help them go out the door. Not to mention, there will likely not be any deals throughout the holiday season. If you are looking for those types of deal, you will be waiting for the new year on this one. Good luck out there.
