It would not be fair to announce Xbox’s Games With Gold freebies for October without mentioning PlayStation Plus free games for October. This month has an ecletic selection of games for fans. The first game available on their list is the source of much controversy. If you didn’t pick it up due to Konami and Hideo Kojima feud, now you can grab it for free.

Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain was the 2015 follow-up to Metal Gear Solid 5: Ground Zeroes. This was Kojima’s final game for Konami. This led to a backlash from fans against Kojima’s poorly handled ouster. Konam placed fans in a weird position. Many loyal to Kojima wanted to stand by him and not give Konami their money. Yet, many people wanted to play his final game in the series. Now, you can grab it money and guilt free.

Another game that is considered to be a heavy hitter is 2010’s Amnesia: Collection. It is a bundle of all three titles from the Frictional Games’ horror franchise. It contains the 2010 Amnesia: The Dark Decent and its 2011 expansion, Amnesia: Justine. Then, of course, the 2013 sequel, Amnesia: A Machine for Pigs.

The remaining games for the month are for the PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Vita. The last two are cross-buy titles:

  • Monster Jam Battlegrounds, PS3
  • Hustle Kings, PS3
  • Hue, PlayStation Vita (cross-buy with PS4)
  • Sky Force Anniversary, PS Vita (cross-buy with PS4, PS3)

Lastly, there is another title, which is free, That’s You. It is the first title for Sony’s new PlayLink program of games that are playable on mobile devices. It is released as a free-with-Plus title and that will expire on October 24.

Ultimately, they will be available from October 5 through November 2.
