There are two type of people. One that is excited about a Tomb Raider reboot and the other is not so much. The gaming community saw Tomb Raider brought back to life a few years ago. The first game of the reboot was critically acclaimed and had a great story and involved her first mission. This trailer seems to be giving us a similar story.
This reboot of a film franchise stars Alicia Vikander, who looks similar to the model that was used in the reboot of the game back in 2014. Much of the story set-up in the trailer seemed to be taking some guidance of that game. When Tomb Raider was released in 2014, many people believed that this would be a great story to base a film reboot on.
The film will be released in March of 2018. The film, also, stars Walton Goggins and Hannah John-Kamen. While the trailer seems to bare some semblance of the game many people of the reboot are used to, it will be something else if it is exactly what we saw on the screen.
Gone are the cut-off shorts, tight tank top and well-endowed nineties version that many people associate with the character. Associated even more so when Angelina Jolie played Lara Croft in the pair of films in the early 2000s.
Vikander does appear a bit out of place as the character during the course of the trailer. Yes, she is have been an academy award winner. But being in a big budget franchise like this is another animal altogether. It is not necessarily about how well you act, but how well people buy you as a Croft. I am cautiously optimistic about the Tomb Raider reboot. However, I will definitely check it out when it hit theaters in 2018.
