Alex Kurtzman to Run Star Trek Until 2026

Paramount+ effectively revolves around Alex Kurtzman. Given its continued dependence on Star Trek. It’s clear CBS will do whatever it takes to keep the director and producer aboard. CBS Studios has signed a deal that will have Kurtzman and his Secret Hideout unit exclusively producing shows for Paramount+. As well as other platforms through 2026. He’ll continue to lead Star Trek efforts for the “next six years,” CBS said.

So much for the continuous online reports that he is being fired. As well as all his Star Trek series have been canceled.

CBS didn’t say how much it paid. Although Deadline sources understood the agreement was in the “$150 million range.” Kurtzman had two years left on an existing deal. And that was worth far less at ‘just’ $25 million.

Alex Kurtzman haters gonna hate.

Kurtzman has no less than six Star Trek shows underway, including existing productions DiscoveryPicard and Lower Decks as well as upcoming efforts like Strange New WorldsProdigy and the currently unnamed Section 31 spinoff. He’s also responsible for Showtime offerings like the upcoming The Man Who Fell to Earth TV remake. He, also, has Secret Hideout working on projects like a Stephen King short story adaptation.

This is hilarious for many reasons. Sites that focus on Trek bashing, have been saying “New Trek” is done. Earlier this year, haters were saying he was about to be fired. Even though all shows were in production, they were being stopped and killing them.

They would be willing to lose millions upon millions because no one is watching them. Unfortunately for those online trolls, they wouldn’t be making all these shows if no one was watching them. All these sites say they have “trusted sources”. Which is bullshit. If they are “trusted sources”, then they need to get new sources.

In any case, this makes me happy for now.
