Let’s be honest about one thing, we are always looking for deals. You can always count on Microsoft to offer a deal with Game Pass. Even deals with Xbox Live Gold. They offer deals so often that you literally don’t have to subscribe to their service. Just wait for a deal to come along and sign up for a short time. Its deals like this that, I believe, are contributing to the demise of GameStop and their second-hand market.
Fortunately, doing this blog and podcast, I have come to learn that looking across the internet, you tend to come across some deals. Particularly, deal with Game Pass. Microsoft is offering a 3-month Game Pass membership for $1. Yup, you read that right. It’s legit because Adam and I grabbed it. That gives you roughly 90 days of streaming any of 100 games for three months for $1. After the 3-month period ends, you will be charged $29.98 for the next 3-months, providing you don’t cancel it before the period ends.
For those of you that are unclear how Game Pass works, it is a digital version of Gamefly. They have about 100 games that get changed out near the end of the month, like content on Netflix or Hulu. You can download the games on your console and play them to your hearts content. Some of the games currently on the service:
Darksiders, Darksiders II, Dead Island, Dead Rising 2 & 3, Devil May Cry 4 Special Edition, DOOM, Fable Anniversary, Fable 2 & 3, entire Gears of War series, Resident Evil 5 (April 25), Rise of the Tomb Raider, and Shadow of the Tomb Raider to name a few. You can see a list here.
One of the benefits to Microsoft’s service, than PlayStation’s version, is that you can download the game to your console. Sony forced you to stay connected online to play, which meant that it would suck the bandwidth of your internet – which it always does anyway. Not to mention, you would be better served with it being hardline connected. Let’s be honest, consoles always work better when there are wired.
This deal with Game Pass is something you can’t really pass up. Even if you don’t play a lot – it’s only a buck. For three months. At the same time, you can grab that Xbox Live Gold for one month for a buck as well. Don’t wait too long, the deal only lasts until May 13, 2019. So treat yourself.
