Unlike some of the scathing reviews that Titans received when it debuted last year, many found it better as it went along. On a personal note, I didn’t find it that bad. It was a bit generic and trying to be cooler than it was. However, many of its initial critics cited that it got better as it went along. Which makes it interesting when you find that Deathstroke will be included in the second season.
Esai Morales has signed on to play the badass assassin in the upcoming season of the series. Some may remember him from Ozark and Mozart in the Jungle. For me, I remember him as Richie Valens brother in the 80’s film La Bamba. Now, you will be looking it up and you’re welcome.
According to the official character bio for Titans:
“Slade Wilson is known for being DC’s deadliest assassin. While serving his country, Slade became an elite soldier before government testing enhanced his physiology to near superhuman levels, putting him on a path of darkness and revenge. To his family, Slade is a father and husband, but to the rest of the world, he is feared by many as the infamous Deathstroke; selling his services to the highest bidder as the ruthless assassin that never gives up and never misses.”
The only other incarnation of this character was played in Arrow in their second season by Manu Bennett. You can count the Teen Titans animated movie that came out last year. There was a tease that the character would be in the upcoming Batman film, played by Joe Manganiello. We saw of glimpse of him at the end of Justice League. Unfortunately, it looks like that ain’t going anywhere.
The cast will be beefing up in its second season as they already cast Superboy. Knowing that both characters will be in the series makes me wonder just how will both characters fit into the dynamic. After having watched the first couple of episode of Titans, I’m onboard. However, I am more eager for Doom Patrol.
