After the original Ghostbusters: Afterlife trailer was released last year, was not very impressed. Obviously, that was pre-Covid. After being pushed back a year, they had some time to improve upon the trailer for the film. Man, they did deliver on the trailer.
The film sets up the story of a single mom with two kids taking over their grandfather’s home. As many people suspected, they are the grandchildren of Egon, played by the late Harold Ramis. The family has no money and needs a place to stay.
Ghostbusters: Afterlife trailer looks amazing.
The two kids find life in the town boring and full of dread. The younger sister looks a lot of what Egon would’ve looked like as a kid. The original trailer wasn’t all that inspiring, especially after the failure of the other reboot. However, tying it the original cast was perfect.
Cameos by Annie Potts and various memorable ghosts, from the original film, made me jump in my seat. I felt like that Leonardo DiCaprio meme from Once Upon a Time in Hollywood. Of course, how could you not recognize that voice at the very end of the trailer.
The biggest moment of joy came when Ecto-1 was pulled out of mothballs, racing around the town. The gunner seat was bomb and the drone ghost catcher. I repeatedly watch the trailer and knew that I was going to see this in the theaters. Hopefully, if we can keep this Delta Variant under control before then.
From a movie that looked like it could’ve been a bore, they nailed the trailer. A perfect amount of mystery and nostalgia to get old fans to buy tickets. There are a lot of beats from the original movie and they original commercial playing in the back was amaze-balls.
Ghostbusters: Afterlife will premiere in theaters November 11th, 2021.
