For those of you that have been holding out on picking up the entire Marvel Cinematic Universe of 23 films on 4K, this may be your chance. Rumors had been rolling around the internet since the end of Avengers: Endgame about an Infinity Saga, which was a boxset of all 23 films, including Spider-Man: Far From Home. Why? Because Far From Home was the official end of Phase 3, according to Marvel.
Best Buy made the Infinity Saga Collector’s Edition available for pre-order on their site. It has slated a release date of November 15, 2019. The box contains a letter from Kevin Feige, an exclusive lithograph from Matt Ferguson, 23 individually packed 4K UHD Blu-ray versions of the movies, and an exclusive bonus disc that’s not available anywhere else with the aforementioned never-before-seen bonus scenes, extended scenes, “and more.”
Now, here’s the steep portion of the report: the price. Best Buy is selling the set for $549.99. Before you go crazy over the price, when you do the math, and we know you won’t, that would bring the price of each disc just under $23. That includes all 23 movies and the bonus disc. That is roughly about the price of a 4K disc, so you’re saving a slight amount of money.
Let’s be honest about one thing, if you are planning to upgrade your entire set into 4K (since many of them are being released in the 4K upgrade), this would be the time to do it. You are getting a bonus disc and all the movies in the Infinity Saga. That would mean you are now left to purchase everything from Phase 4 when it’s released.
The artwork of the boxset is beautiful, as you would expect. This is a nice gift, especially since it is being released around the holidays. Maybe you know someone (close friends or family, this isn’t a gift for acquaintances) that has been wanting to get the set but never got around to grabbing it. Since Best Buy made the release, we can expect an official release from Marvel and Disney in the coming days.
