The more and more I heard about what games will be available for the Nintendo Wii U, the far less interested I am in the console. It was mentioned a couple of days ago that Mass Effect 3 will be a launch title for the system, which has already been out for months, but it seems that Madden 13 will be a launch title for the console however not quite as late.
Madden 13 is being released on August 28th on the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, Wii and PS Vita, while everyone will have to wait until the holiday season to see it in action on the Wii U. However, if you have another console and want to check out that serious Infinity Engine action, don’t hold out for the Wii U as it won’t be working with that. In fact, it will be working on the same engine that was behind Madden 12.
If that doesn’t already decrease your interest in the console, it will also be missing the Madden Ultimate Team digital trading card mode, the improved passing control and the Connected Careers mode. However, you will be able to draw plays and players paths using the Wii U controller and have the five-player offline option, using four Wii U Pro controllers and a Wii U GamePad.
I have to admit that it is a good sign that Nintendo is finally throwing out a game that could still be relatively new when the system is released, but the fact that it will be lacking the Infinity Engine is a serious blow to fans of the game (and former fans) as the new engine will be one of the main draws to the sales of the game. I guess to anyone that isn’t any wiser won’t notice a difference, however, if you are buying a Wii U could mean that you weren’t wise enough to begin with.
