Mindhunter Season Two Arrives In August

With all the original series’ on Netflix, it is almost difficult to find the time to watch all of them. However, being a David Fincher fan since Fight Club, I was intrigued when I saw he was bringing an original crime drama to the service. Having loved his take on Zodiac, it was a no-brainer that I would be intrigued by it. Mindhunter is a series based on a novel Mindhunter: Inside the FBI’s Elite Serial Crime Unit written by John E. Douglas and Mark Olshaker, and chronicles the beginning of serial killer profiling in the FBI. That was in 2017. So, where is Mindhunter season two?

It has been a while since we heard about the second season, since it was renewed. Aside from casting Damon Herriman – who is also playing Manson in Quentin Tarantino’s upcoming Once Upon a Time in Hollywood – was tasked to play Mason again in this series. Although, we have recently received news that Mindhunter season two could be coming as early as this August.

What does Charlize Theron have to do with the series? She is one of the executive producers of the show. During her interview with Howard Stern, she mentioned that it would be coming to the service in August. While it isn’t something official, since she is a producer, there is a distinct possibility that she may know a thing or two.

If you haven’t watched the series, and you love true crime, it is a fascinating show. Not a family show, I can tell you. Lots of cursing, sex, and violence. But done in a realistic manner, not for over-glorification. The series stars Jonathan Groff, Holt McCallany, and Anna Torv have a great chemistry, and their cold openings have tidbits of something that is leading up to something bigger.

As a fan, I am looking forward to seeing Mindhunter season two on the service this summer, if that proves to be the date. After the season finale, it is curious to see how they pick up the pieces from there. I don’t recommend binging it in one sitting. It might be a bit much for some of you.
