There was nothing more usual on the Star Wars front on Tuesday, when some major casting news and a rumor went online. Fans of Game of Thrones and Narcos will enjoy seeing Pedro Pascal in final negotiations for the live-action series, The Mandalorian.

Pascal memorably portrayed the passionate warrior Oberyn Martell, aka the Red Viper, on the fourth season of the HBO series Game of Thrones. He also played DEA agent Javier Peña on three seasons of Narcos. Back when the Netflix series centered on the cocaine cartels of Colombia. Pascal also played Agent Whiskey in Kingsmen: The Golden Circle in 2017.
In another piece of rumor casting news: Carl Weathers may be joining the series. This latest casting rumor comes courtesy of the Making Star Wars podcast, claiming that he will take a supporting role. While additional information is scarce, they have a pretty decent track record for accurate reporting. This would be a huge deal.
Weathers is most remembered for his turn as Apollo Creed in the first four Rocky movies. As well as Dillion in the classic 80’s action flick, Predator. This will mark his first foray into a science-fiction movie since his turn in the seventies classic, Close Encounters of the Third Kind. Which resulted in nothing more than a cameo.
The series will focus on another bounty hunter and takes place between Return of the Jedi and The Force Awakens. It has been described as a “lone gunfighter” in the other reaches of the galaxy. This will be worth checking out. I promise.
“The Mandalorian” has an incredible group of all-star directors attached to the series including Taika Waititi (“Thor: Ragnarok”), Dave Filoni (“Star Wars: The Clone Wars”), Rick Famuyiwa(“Dope”), Deborah Chow (“Mr. Robot”), and Bryce Dallas Howard, the actress making her major directorial debut.
