‘Snyder Cut’ of Justice League Didn’t Exist

This has been a bone that needs to be picked with people obsessed with that whole #ReleaseTheSnyderCut version of Justice League. All of which was hilarious because after the release of both Man of Steel and Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice people thought Snyder should be taken off Warners superhero movies. For some reason, idiot fans kept thinking there was a completely different cut of the movie before it was released. Zack Snyder revealed that there was no “Snyder Cut” of the film.

During a Director’s Cut event, where Snyder showed off a few extended versions of his films, he got into some things fans have been asking about Justice League. Many people complained that Batman killed a guy in BvS. That was a major sticking point for fans that hated his iteration of Batman.

“Someone says to me, ‘Batman killed a guy.’ I’m like, ‘fuck, really? Wake the fuck up,’” explained Snyder. “I guess that’s what I’m saying. Once you’ve lost your virginity to this fucking movie and then you come and say to me something about like, ‘My superhero wouldn’t do that.’ I’m like, ‘Are you serious?’ I’m like down the fucking road on that.”

He continued, “It’s a cool point of view to be like, ‘My heroes are still innocent. My heroes didn’t fucking lie to America. My heroes didn’t embezzle money from their corporations. My heroes didn’t fucking commit any atrocities.’ That’s cool. But you’re living in a fucking dream world.”

This makes more sense why he directed Watchmen, but not so clear why he would use the whole “fucking dream world” comment. I mean, after all, he was adapting a comic book. I mean, it isn’t historical fact, but who’s to say, right?

Getting back to the whole “Snyder Cut” of the film – there wasn’t one. Some sources, like the one above, only chose a piece to discuss, but not the whole. Snyder did have another version of Justice League. The probably was that it was the script that was written after BvS. A version of the script that was never actually written.

According to Snyder, he had a script that was in two-parts. Many of you may remember that Justice League was supposed to be a two parter, much like Infinity War. After the response from BvS, Warner Bros. baulked and pulled back on a two-parter Justice League. The original concept was a huge space-action. So, Snyder had rewritten the script, which was similar to what we saw in theaters.

In the script, the Knightmare sequence would have played out. Superman had succumbed to the Anti-Life equation. Cyborg and Batman were working on a way to send Flash back in time, but before they could Darkseid was supposed to have murdered Lois. So there’s that. But, after the critical and commercial lambasting of BvS, it prompted a rewrite of the script and we got what we got. So, it looks like there was no Snyder cut after all. Which I said all along.
