Stadia Launch Titles Don’t Excite But Still Decent

November is a big month for streaming platforms. Apple TV+ launched at the first of the month, which is followed by Disney+ today. The next one coming is Stadia, which is Google’s game streaming service. While some people won’t get their equipment by launch, they might not feel so bad. The Stadia launch titles won’t be plenty or new.

But the launch games for Stadia consists mainly of older PC games, including Assassin’s Creed OdysseyDestiny 2, and three Tomb Raider titles. Here’s the day-one Stadia game lineup, from Google:

  • Assassin’s Creed Odyssey
  • Destiny 2: The Collection
  • Gylt
  • Just Dance 2020
  • Kine
  • Mortal Kombat 11
  • Red Dead Redemption 2
  • Rise of the Tomb Raider
  • Samurai Shodown
  • Shadow of the Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition
  • Thumper
  • Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition

The service has one exclusive game, which is Gylt, by Tequila Works, who recently released Windows PC version of Red Dead Redemption 2. That should sound like a winning endorsement, but with some of the issues it’s having – not so much.

Google also confirmed 14 additional Stadia launch titles coming to Stadia by the end of 2019. Here’s what else early adopters can expect this year (minus, of course, Doom Eternal, which was previously expected at Stadia’s launch but was recently delayed to March 2020):

  • Attack on Titan 2: Final Battle
  • Borderlands 3
  • Darksiders Genesis
  • Dragonball Xenoverse 2
  • Farming Simulator 19
  • Final Fantasy 15
  • Football Manager 2020
  • Ghost Recon Breakpoint
  • Grid
  • Metro Exodus
  • NBA 2K20
  • Rage 2
  • Trials Rising
  • Wolfenstein Youngblood

While the Stadia launch titles may not be gangbusters, it is a decent list for something that is completely brand new. It is important to note that Google doesn’t develop games. Like Sony and Microsoft, they have to rely on other developers. If this takes off, you can expect more games to appear on the service. That’s, also, depending on long Google will support it. Only time will tell.
