If you have (had) listened to this week’s The Lazy Geeks episode, you know my problem with Paramount Plus and Apple TV Plus. Not enough consistent content to make me a year subscriber. However, it looks like that could change next month. Star Trek: Lower Decks season two begins next month, and a slew of new content.
From Lower Deck, it will be followed by Discovery’s fourth season. As well as Picard’s second season and the debut of Strange New Worlds. This will be the longest stretch of new Trek content in the history of the service. Even though, every time you turn around someone is reporting that Paramount is scrapping the whole thing.
On Friday, Paramount released the trailer for the second season of Star Trek: Lower Decks. The trailer is everything you expected after viewing the first season. Of all the new Trek that’s been released, this is my new favorite.
Because it pokes at fan’s observations.
Many hardcore Trek fans found the series to be low-brow and unfunny. Those are the one’s that took Roddenberry’s message as gospel. On a personal left, the series poked fun at many of the tropes, concepts, and one-time species that we thought about.
Many fans seem to turn around with the cameos of Q and the introduction of the fun Riker in the season finale. Poking fun at his appearance in the series finale of Enterprise and his obsession with jazz. Causing Troi’s retort of “jazz”.
Producers has indicated that they will not undo any of the events that happened in season one. Rutherford will still be working on his memory, as Boimler’s experience on the Titan. Also, the return of Tom Paris in season two.
Star Trek: Lower Decks S2 will debut on Paramount+ on August 12, 2021, and the show has already been renewed for a third season.
