If you just can’t wait for the release of it next month, EA has something to ease the pain. A CG short entitled, Star Wars: Squadrons “Hunted” short helps get the mood going.
Today, the publisher released a new 7-minute animated short, which serves as a standalone story introducing one of the main characters from Squadrons’ single-player campaign. It centers on an Imperial pilot named Varko Grey, the only one left behind after a massive battle. There are tense dogfights, lots of flaming Star Destroyers, and all of the musical cues you’d expect from Star Wars.
“The Empire’s retreat after a surprise attack marks yet another stumble in the wake of the second Death Star’s destruction,” the description states. “But for one member of Titan Squadron, the battle is far from over. Squadron Leader Varko Grey finds himself as the last TIE pilot on the battlefield, hunted relentlessly by a renegade New Republic X-wing in this standalone STAR WARS: Squadrons story.”
“Star Wars: Squadrons is a new game being developed by EA Motive, the developers who worked on the vehicle portions of Star Wars Battlefront II. It’s a 5v5 multiplayer game, though there’s also a campaign. Players can join the New Republic’s Vanguard Squadron or the Empire’s Titan Squadron.”
The game is designed to get the blood pumping and pre-order the game. However, if you order it digitally, you won’t have to leave you damn house. This looks like one of the more fun games that we could’ve gotten earlier, if EA didn’t offer us Battlefront.
EA says Star Wars: Squadrons “Hunted” was made in collaboration with Squadrons developer Motive. As well as Lucasfilm and ILM. The game — which lets players pilot classic Star Wars ships in both a story-driven campaign and squad-based multiplayer — will launch on October 2nd on the PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
