Over the last few days there has been some major movement on the whole “Animation Domination” line-up on Fox. While Fox has decided not to renew The Cleveland Show and has decided to let American Dad move to TBS starting in 2014, they need to do something to bring people to simply watch The Family Guy and the ever aging The Simpsons.
So the guys at Fox have decided that both shows will have a crossover episode in 2014. While there isn’t an exact air date set for the crossover, but you can assume, according to Collider, that the crossover will happen sometime during November sweeps in 2014.
Fox gives a description of the episode:
“Peter (Seth MacFarlane) and the Griffins get out of dodge and end up in Springfield, where they are greeted by a friendly stranger named Homer Simpson (guest voice Dan Castellaneta), who welcomes his new “albino” friends with open arms. The families get along famously: Stewie (MacFarlane) becomes obsessed with Bart (guest voice Nancy Cartwright) and his old-fashioned pranks; Lisa (guest voice Yeardley Smith) takes Meg (Mila Kunis) under her wing and is determined to find something – anything – at which she excels; Marge (guest voice Julie Kavner) and Lois (Alex Borstein) ditch housework for a little bonding; and Peter and Homer fight over the best beer in town – Pawtucket vs Duff.”
I am sure there are many of you that have been wanting these two shows to team up, but I am not sure if the payoff would be all that amazing. Given the sensibilities of the two writing staffs and how their humors would mesh together, given that The Simpsons were about being more layered metaphors while The Family Guy never made any qualms about what they were focusing on. Are you tuning in on this one or not? Let us know.
