Have you ever sat enjoying an episode of How I Met Your Mother and said to yourself “Gee self, I would really like the soundtrack to this show.” The creators of HIMYM at least think you feel that way and have decided to release a soundtrack to accompany the show.

Sure, the show doesn’t have a Glee level of songs in its history, but the songs that have surfaced are amazingly funny. From Barney’s resume to interesting Canadian pop songs, if you’re a fan of the show then you’ll enjoy the tracks in the Soundtrack.

Craig Thomas, co-creator of the show, said “We’ve been asked by the fans for years, ‘When is the How I Met Your Mother soundtrack album going to come out?’ We’ve sort of had talks about it, but never quite made it happen. But finally, we decided look, it could be the last year of the show – we don’t know. It could be more. But we decided now is the time to do it. We complied everything. It’s like 20 tracks. It is totally an album. It’s 40 minutes of music. And we said this is the year. So on our premiere night [September 24th], the How I Met Your Mother soundtrack album will go up on iTunes. It’s iTunes only." Thomas jokingly added, "It’s not a physical CD, because that’s so 1992! When’s the last time you bought a CD?”

Thomas confirmed that all the songs you would expect, like Robin Sparkles tracks and Barney’s Awesome Video Resume will be there. “We’re going to do a fully produced version of the ‘Bang-Bang-Bangity-Bang’ song [from Season 5’s “Of Course”] The cast and our composer. Perhaps with a slightly New Orleans theme!”

To sum it up this is nothing but a good thing.
