Wolverine: The Long Night Podcast Sequel Announced

Following the success of Marvel’s audio drama Wolverine: The Long Night, the company has officially revealed its back for a second season. It will expand upon what was established regarding the podcast’s second season, which will be titled: Wolverine: The Lost Trail.

The ten-episode season will follow Logan as he returns to Louisiana in search of redemption following the events of The Long Night. However, upon reaching New Orleans, he discovers that his ex-lover, Maureen, has gone missing. As well as with a whole host of other humans and mutants. Among the missing is the mother of teenager Marcus Baptiste.

With Weapon X hot on their trail, Logan and Marcus must join forces to solve the mystery. As well as retrieve those they have lost by venturing into the dark heart of the Louisiana bayou. Along the way, they will come face-to-face with Cajun thieves (hint, hint), biker gangs and unexplainable oddities. It is on this trek that Logan and Marcus discover Greenhaven. A refuge controlled by a powerful mutant known as Jason Wyngarde.

In The Lost Trail, Richard Armitage (The Hobbit) will reprise his role as Logan/Wolverine from The Long Night. Additionally, joining the cast of Wolverine‘s new season will be Bill Irwin (Legion) as Jason Wyngarde/Mastermind, Bill Heck (The Ballad of Buster Scruggs) as Remy LeBeau/Gambit and Blair Brown (Orange is the New Black) as Bonnie Roach. Moreover, The Long Night writer Ben Percy, director Brendan Baker and sound designer Chloe Prasinos will also all be returning for The Lost Trail.

A huge gamble paid off for Marvel

“After seeing the overwhelming support for Marvel’s Wolverine: The Long Night, we are excited to introduce listeners to another unique audio storytelling experience,” said Marvel Entertainment President Dan Buckley. “Marvel’s Wolverine: The Lost Trail will continue expanding Logan’s story and introduce more elements of the Marvel Universe. We look forward to expanding our content for Marvel fans and the scripted podcast community.”

Wolverine: The Lost Trail will be released exclusively on Stitcher Premium beginning in winter 2019. It will then be added to all podcast platforms sometime later. The series is produced by Daniel Fink and Chloe Wilson of Marvel, alongside Stitcher’s Jenny Radelet.

“Fans reacted so powerfully and positively to Season 1 that we really had no choice — we had to keep the story and the characters alive (well, most of them) for another season,” said Stitcher Chief Content Officer Chris Bannon. “Fortunately, the outstanding creative team that made Season 1 so memorable signed on right away. And I couldn’t hope for a better cast of great voices, including Richard Armitage as Logan. Together, they’re making a story Marvel fans will listen to over and over, I know.”

The first nine episodes of Wolverine: The Long Night are currently available on all major podcast platforms. The season finale will debut on Nov. 7.
