Yes, it has been a long minute. The Lazy Geeks is back. Well, not entirely. This is a rebooted form to take on the culture of the 2020s. I am alone in this venture, as Adam and I stopped doing the show in 2023. What have I been doing for the last year? I had been attempting to launch a solo brand. It had done okay, but the reason for coming back to this is simple: completion.
The other two podcasts that I do, currently under The Gen-Xer Pod brand, are not going away. One of those is a podcast about the worldview of a member of Generation X that doesn’t wear a certain color baseball cap. However, I take to task my fellow Gen-Xers, as well as Millennials, Boomers, and Gen Z, to illustrate that we weren’t the “last great generation”. At best, we were ‘meh’. Not to mention, we rolled over on the ideal that we could be better.
The other one was my political podcast, Great American Sh*t Show. This was designed to illustrate that much of what we are experiencing was done before to various degrees of success and failure. However, with the manipulation of the electorate, we no longer can trust the safe guards that were in place. Whether you’re MAGA or liberal, the controlling elite don’t want change. They want power, which usually comes with a lot of money.
What led me to the ‘welcome back’?
While those were fulfilling to a degree, I missed talking about pop culture. One of the reasons we stopped doing the original show, which are still available, was it was the same news over and over again. Clickbait is still taken as gospel with no discerning opinions. Plus, Adam was getting bored with it, and I was to – to a certain extend.
With this reboot, I will be taking on topics within pop culture, technology, gaming, social media, and the likes. But instead of reporting on the news, I will focus on certain topics and aspects within those topics no one really talks about. Whether it is through ignorance or omission, much of the sub-culture we experience now comes from those early days we spoke to.
There is a hope I will have this new show – which will be more short form – dropping in the next few weeks. I have already started releasing the second season of The Gen-Xer Pod and Great American Sh*t Show. Many of the posts to the blog will be random pieces. Things that I wanted to say, while news stories will be more opinion. Using the news story to lead into the opinion I have on the subject, or an aspect of the subject.
Hope you join me for this new venture starting off 2025. In a world of fake news, there needs to be something to ground us all. As a right-wing commentator once said, “facts don’t care about your feelings.” To which I add, “too bad your feelings get caught up in the facts you don’t like.”
