TikTok Gets Last Minute Extension

Over the weekend, news was going to send many social media influencers into a tizzy. TikTok was suppose to either sell or be shutdown. However, it seemed that didn’t happen. Unlike what TikTok did back in January when they shut down their app prior to the original deadline. TikTok got an extension via executive order by President Donald Joanne Trump on Friday.

“My Administration has been working very hard on a Deal to SAVE TIKTOK, and we have made tremendous progress,” Trump wrote. “The Deal requires more work to ensure all necessary approvals are signed, which is why I am signing an Executive Order to keep TikTok up and running for an additional 75 days.”

Now, we don’t know what he actually means when he says “made tremendous progress”. Although, we know that words he uses seldom mean what everyone else knows them to mean. There have been potential buyers clamoring for a shot. Some recently include Amazon, and OnlyFans co-founder teaming up with a crypto company to purchase it.

TikTok extension shouldn’t be a surprise

What makes the deal stickier is that China has a say in how and who it will sell to. There are some rumblings that it could be part of a deal with the tariffs. It makes sense that the bully-in-chief believes that he will reduce tariffs if China allows the sale to an American company proceed without objection.

While he single handedly sent the world into an economic crisis, there is very little doubt that China will do anything. Primarily anything to make Trump look like a winner. At the end of the day, it is important to know that TikTok was never the enemy politicians bought into. It was American companies bitching that a foreign app is crushing them.

So the only way to do it was shut it down. OR, let an American tech company purchase it and become bigger.
