Nintendo Switch 2 Pre-Orders Postponed

Not only did President Donald Joanne Trump screw over anyone with a 401K this week with his insane tariffs, but he screwed over potential Nintendo Switch 2 buyers. While some old heads were complaining about the price, because they are still thinking in 1990 pricing, the new tariffs would make them even more expensive in the United States. So much so that Nintendo postponed pre-orders in the US.

“Pre-orders for Nintendo Switch 2 in the US will not start April 9, 2025 in order to assess the potential impact of tariffs and evolving market conditions,” the company told Engadget. “Nintendo will update timing at a later date. The launch date of June 5, 2025 is unchanged.”

If you want to talk about being folded into a bad news cycle, Nintendo announced the launch of the device on April 2, only to issue a new statement after the announcement of the tariffs.

Nintendo Switch 2 Postponement May Be Temporary

Many people were taken aback by the $450 price tag, but with those new tariffs – that price is beyond something Sony would release it for.

There are some people out there that will complain about the price. If it were Sony – no one would bat an eye. Generationally, Nintendo was always a cheaper product. More affordable for people that couldn’t get a PlayStation or Xbox.

I hate to break it to you, but the 90’s were thirty years ago. Don’t be like those old folks that usually start sentences with “back in my day”. We don’t need any of that. Just keep in mind, think about if it was Sony and charging $700 for a new handheld. Then with the tariff?

With Nintendo’s launch day remaining unchanged, if this continues, the world will have a new handheld device before the US. That would screw over all your social media influencers that thrive on unboxing and reviewing.
