As the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) antitrust against Meta started on Monday, things became clear to me. Back in January, we saw many of the tech companies – that Trump hated – donating money to his inauguration fund. Many in the public would lambast them with a certain sense of bewilderment. Even looking at Emo Musk trashing certain government agencies harder than others.
Daniel Matheson, the FTC’s lead litigator, flagged a “smoking gun”—a 2012 email where Mark Zuckerberg suggested that Facebook could buy Instagram to “neutralize a potential competitor,” The New York Times reported.
Musk went hard after the FAA because they were filling lawsuits against his Space X company. Mark Zuckerberg has leaned into Trump’s requests to what? Help him get out of the lawsuit with the FTC. Google CEO, Sundar Pichai, is experiencing some federal lawsuits for its practices. Amazon CEO, Jeff Bezos, is constantly under labor lawsuits due to Amazon and constantly fighting union attempts within his company. Apple is hoping to get Trump to give them an exemption from his tariff talk.
FTC Trial tells you why they went all in on Trump
All of their annoyances and enemies are within the federal government. I don’t believe it is about gaining more power as many like to say. Much like the conservatives claim there is a war on free speech, which isn’t true. It’s freedom of consequence. Allowing them to do what they want, unimpeded by federal law.
Also, hearing from the Facebook whistleblower that explains that Zuckerberg is all in with China. Allowing them to get whatever they want, yet TikTok was the enemy? That was something I always said: “what about the American companies that sell their data to anyone willing to pay? You think China wouldn’t get it from them?”
When we see many in the tech world siding with Trump, we need to look at the whole picture. And a Google search, what legal troubles are they experiencing. In the end, that is usually what I boils down to, and they know Trump is easily bought.
