I know the title of this post says “Twitter”. I will never call it that other name. Ever. If you hate helping seniors with their technological questions, be prepared for more. In something that is not a “conflict of interest” at all. DOGE is cutting about 90 percent of jobs with the Social Security Administration.
With that happening, DOGE has decided to move all communications from the SSA to the public will be coming from Twitter. Yes, that same Twitter that is owned by Emo Musk, according to WIRED and the Federal News Network reported Friday.
That means if grandma wants to stay on top of what’s going on with Social Security, she will need to have a Twitter account. Just imagine trying to teach them how that works. Teaching them how to use the self-checkout at their local grocery store will be easier.
Liz Huston, a White House spokesperson, told WIRED its reporting on regional office layoffs was “misleading.” Instead of layoffs, she said, the SSA is moving regional staffers to become “front-line help,” which is part of it “allocating finite resources where they are most needed.”
Social Security Updates Coming via Twitter
Yet, SSA Midwest-West Regional Commissioner Linda Kerr-Davis told her staff something different on Thursday. “The agency will be using X to communicate to the press and the public—formerly known as Twitter,” Kerr-Davis said, according to the Federal News Network. “This will become our communication mechanism.”
Much of the focus has been on seniors using Twitter to get information. However, the biggest red flag should be about Musk getting more power with government contracts. The focus on politicians and the media should be on how Musk’s businesses are getting all these contracts. It’s by slashing jobs from independent agencies.
Which is how all of this works. You misdirect with this and the real moves are willfully being overlooked. The federal government is being slashed using people’s inherent hatred toward it. However, Musk seems to be making money for himself.
