PlayStation Plus Canada Gets Price Hike

With the economic instability going on around the world, Sony will be raising prices on Canadian gamers for PlayStation Plus. Now, I don’t try to be an economic expert, but I don’t understand how tariffs in the United States would impact countries outside our sphere of influence. However, Sony Interactive is based in San Francisco, CA, so that makes a bit more sense.

According to Engadget, prices hikes will begin on or after June 24. However, all new subscribers will be paying the new prices immediately.

The new Canadian prices for PS Plus Premium are CA$25 monthly (up from $21), $69 for three months (from $60) and $225 for a year (from $190). JFC.

Meanwhile, Extra members will now pay $21 monthly (from $18), $56 for three months (from $50) and $190 annually (from $155). Finally, Essential subscribers’ prices go up to $14 monthly (from $12), $35 for three months (from $30) and $110 annually (from $95).

PlayStation Plus Canada Price Hike

Other countries saw a previously announced price hike on yesterday. These countries include: Australia, South Korea, Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia, Argentina, Bolivia, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Ecuador, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Mexico, Nicaragua, Panama, Paraguay, Peru and Uruguay.

Of course, there is no word on when (not if) there will be a price hike on the US and UK. Some publications question whether there will be, but don’t be so fucking naive. No company will not raise the price all over. Particularly Sony. US and the UK will be the last since they have the bigger market share of their customers.

With Trump’s see-saw on who, how much, and for how long with tariffs, consumers will start seeing the price hikes sooner rather than later. People were blaming Biden for things being expensive and bought the bullshit from Trump, yet they are still blaming Biden. Of course, because no one can believe they’re wrong.
