As the title suggests, my birthday weekend begins. My birthday is on Monday, so I may have a message about it during the pre-recorded The Lazy Geeks episode. As someone who hasn’t had the ability to celebrate over the last few years, I would really like to do something. This is where you all come into play. As I start my 52nd year, all the birthdays since 50 have pretty much sucked. Having been unemployed for an extended period of time, there are not a lot of options for things to do that are free.

I won’t get into the details, but caretaking for my brother the last couple of years of his life, there was not a lot of celebration for birthdays. Not to mention, my brother always seemed to forget my birthday was coming so he would never plan anything. On the other hand, I always remembered his and went out of my way to make sure I could do something.
This particular year is difficult. In January, I lost my beloved dog, River, suddenly. One day she was fine and played. We had our normal day, and when the next morning came: she was gone. She would’ve been 13 years on the fourteenth. So, I would always do something to include her.

I would get some pulled chicken for her. Maybe if I could afford a hamburger, she would look at me as if I had given her the world. This will be the first birthday she won’t be around. I miss her terribly and thinking about what I should have for dinner is difficult given that she is no longer part of the process.
One other thing that has changed, it would seem a pair of strays have taken up residency in my backyard. They are kind of young but very thin when I noticed them. As I do have an indoor cat, Oliver, but he’s a bougie asshole. I started giving those strays some food that Oliver didn’t like. Which they started to warm up to me.

The cat distribution system chose me to soften the loss of River with two young stray. The boy, Fisk, trusts me enough to not run away but hiss when I get too close. Amelia is more anxious. She runs from me when I get close, but once she notices the bag, she stops. Watches me but keeps her distance.

The reason I bring all this up is why I am posting for some financial help or help getting me (or them) some stuff. I would like to be able to take myself to a movie or lunch, which would require some help from you. Or, you can always give me something from either of my two Amazon Wishlists. One is the basic Lazy Geeks wishlist, but I came up with a cheap birthday one. It’s priced between $5 to $20.

On that list is a large dry food bag of cat food for the kids outside. A 3.5 lb bag lasts almost three weeks, and I would like to get them a bigger bag so I don’t have to worry about it for a while.

If you would like to help me, Oliver, or my two stray buddies, it would be greatly appreciated. Time hasn’t been kind to me for the last couple of years and I would like to change the direction. Oh, and recently, my old laptop decided that it had enough and died on me this week. Which, in the same week, my toaster oven and toaster died too.
If you chose to help, I appreciate you. If you don’t, it’s cool. I completely understand. Thanks for your time and if you only choose to help my strays, I get it. In fact, I appreciate that more.
