Pop Culture Cinema: Trailer

Sometime back you may remember I was going to do a movie podcast for The Gen-Xer Pod. After doing three episodes, one actually released, I started to realize how limiting it was for me. Not only that, it was on the cusp of Superman being released and I saw all the Snyderbros coming at it like it was a plague. I began thinking about the Snyderverse and why some people are clinging to it like the last raft on the Titanic. That is where Pop Culture Cineman was born.

I wanted to review cinema, as it would get me back into watching film again. There was an undercurrent that I wanted to touch on too. Much like how I feel about watching YouTube reaction channels that watch a film blind, there is a lot of context that remains untouched.

As someone that doesn’t have a strong opinion on holding on to films of my youth, this would be perfect. Discussing films as they are, but giving context to it is key. I am one to those people that doesn’t believe you can be a critic of film just by watching it. That is a step in a journey. Watching interviews with the creatives behind it. What was the message they were sending? It is obvious most of the time, they pick up the wrong message.

Pop Culture Cinema brings context to chaos

Don’t believe me? Look at all the people that believed Homelander was a good guy. There are many people that believe not studying the medium they wish to criticize is a good thing. Mostly because they believe it is elitist. Ignorance can be a powerful motivator.

I can discuss films without sounding elitist or without using words like “woke” or “DEI”. Many people that use the latter words are not intelligent. The reason is their inability to properly articulate what they don’t like about the film without devolving into a female person of color, who is a lesbian, is in it. Reviewers that use those words are the same ones that use “do your own research”.

With the new Superman causing fragile Snyderbros to freak, it gave me the perfect series to open up with. The first three episodes will focus on Man of Steel, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, and Zack Snyder’s Justice League. Not only will it be a review but why is it so “college bro” to love those movies. Why, just like Marvel films, they are not perfect as many latent homosexual bros think they are. New episodes will start dropping Friday, August 1.
