Reddit to Restrict the Wayback Machine

Everything is about money. Yet, bootlickers will defend corporations like it was their business. One of the best ways to see what changed regarding a website has been limited when it involves Reddit. Let’s be honest, everything about Reddit is regarding money. The Wayback Machine has been limited (very limited) regarding what it can archive. Again, it’s due to money.

Originally excluded from the AI restrictions, Reddit has changed its mind and will only allow them to archive the homepage. It won’t have access to comments, subreddits, Post details, profiles, and other data. Last year, Reddit considered them “good faith actors”.

For some reason that has changed.

Reddit claims that these restrictions are a way to combat companies that are training AI off their site. But before you get too into “personal freedom” bit, they will allow it for a price. Back in 2024, Reddit scored a deal with Google to allow them for $60 million annually.

While they don’t want companies to train their AI without bringing out their shiny pennies first. This can go into how much trouble Reddit is since it hasn’t made a profit. OpenAI struck a deal with Reddit last year which would allow ChatGPT to advertise on the site.

So many companies are spending millions to prove their AI actually works. Yet, there is so much evidence to the contrary. Primarily in the market of manipulation. Elon Musk has manipulated Grok to give more right-wing repsonses when the AI reveals facts. This upsets the base user of the service.

Microsoft is being sued for forcing people to upgrade to Windows 11. The lawsuit focuses on the company’s desire to make people upgrade to train their AI using Microsoft users. However, knowing how Microsoft functions, it will still never work. You can count on it.
