Early last year, the latest scam tech – sorry – tech news was the announcement of the Trump Phone T1. Everything it was claimed has fallen faster than Humpty Dumpty. Pre-orders for the “made in USA” device began shortly after the announcement and promised for June 2025. June 2025 came and went – still no phone. The T1 was pushed back to August or September. Then to November or December.
We have just started January 2026, and still no device. However, on New Year’s Eve, it was announced that the device will be release sometime in 2026. When? Your guess is as good as mine. There is still no confirmed image as to what the device will look like. The company backtracked their “made in USA” claims.
Why the Trump Phone was Delayed?
Many reasons were used as to why the phone was delayed. Initially, it was blamed on the cost of making it entirely in the US. That should’ve been discussed and dealt with before the phone was announced. Many of the images released by Trump Media had it looking like a photoshopped version of an iPhone 15 just gold-platted.
The latest reason was Trump’s own government shutdown. The shutdown prevented the device from getting FCC approval. In all honesty, the OnePlus 15 was delayed for that reason, but the phone has since been released for the holiday season.
It is important to note that Trump Mobile has been accepting pre-orders for the device for $100. Unfortunately, an exact date for when you will get it is another story. Imagine if Apple, Google, or Samsung did this? There would be rioting in the streets.
Is it worth it?
While it is using the same mobile style network that Mint, Boost, or Visible uses, it isn’t cheap. You can purchase refurbished devices from Trump Mobile, but it is cheaper getting them at other places. Trump Mobile is charging $184 more for an iPhone 14 than you could get on Amazon. While you can get an iPhone 15 for nearly $200 more than from Amazon.
The Galaxy S23 costs $369 from Trump Mobile, when you can get it for $249 from Amazon or Best Buy. Fucking Best Buy?!
Not to mention the pricey monthly payments! You get unlimited talk, text, and data for $47.45 a month. You can get the same plan from Visible for $35/month – which is own by Verizon – and AT&T’s prepaid offering.
The T1 phone is claimed to come with Android 15 out of the box. Some reports claim that it will be a bargain rate Android phone that anyone can get for well under $400. There is still no mention as to what processor or RAM capacity this phone will have.
Now, this shouldn’t be a surprise for people that watch out for scams. You see commercials of overpriced junk with “patriot” slapped on it. MAGA-hatters will jump out of their couches to purchase them. Patriot tools, patriot beer, patriot survival gear, and all that.
There is a part of me that love seeing people getting continuously ripped off by this guy. However, if this guy is never prosecuted for this kind of grifting, they (and all others) will continue to do this. As YouTuber Coffeezilla constantly states, “crime is legal”. And I can’t help but completely agree.
