Amazon Settles Refund Lawsuit

Were you one of those people that bought into Amazon “no hassle refund”? Fortunately for me, I had both an Amazon store and market close by. I was able to hand my refunds over and get a credit. It seems that a lot of people didn’t get that treatment. A class action lawsuit came , and Amazon settles it with a huge amount. The giant retailer agreed to a $1 billion settlement. This over claims it systematically failed to process customer returns, according to court documents filed this week.

Of course, when they settle no one admits to wrongdoing. That is what I think is bullshit, but that’s another topic. The deal includes $600 million in refunds to customers who never received money back for returned items. Also, an additional $309.5 million in direct payments.

Amazon will pay out $309.5 million directly to affected customers. Issue $600 million in refunds for returns that were never properly processed. Then commit another $363 million to fixing its return infrastructure.

Amazon settles lawsuit with real money

While this is very cool for the customer, this shouldn’t allow the retailer off the hook. They still have some shitty business practices. Their delivery policy. I’m still wondering what happened to mt Christmas tree storage container. It was coming out from Arizona. Made it as far as Rialto and then vanished. How many delivery trucks go missing?

For this situation, it is great that consumers get their money back and it ends. Once I returned a small backpack to their Amazon store. I got the refund and the receipt. A few months later, Amazon emailed me that I never returned it. I explained that I did in their store and attached the receipt. Then I never heard from them again. So, who knows what happened.
