One of my favorite games when I got my Nintendo 64 was Star Wars Racer. It was one of those offshoot games that came out of Star Wars Episode 1: The Phantom Menace. Since it was similar to Mario Kart it was easy to get my non-gaming friends to play. Of course, I grabbed the Nintendo GameCube strictly for Star Wars: Rogue Squadron. Moving ahead some twenty years, we have a new Star Wars game dropping. Star Wars: Galactic Racer is bringing back Star Wars racing games.
During PlayStation State of Play presentation, they dropped the trailer for the game. As far as games look, the graphics are a step up from its twenty year-old predecessor. It definitely looks a little silly, but it is directed at kids. Like the original game was.
The “fan base” will shit on it. Since they have grown up and the franchise hasn’t. Which really gets to the heart of the toxicity of its adult fanbase. While we all thought it was cool when we were kids, it is for kids. Check out the trailer and see for yourself.
