Ghost of Yotei Removed from PC Port

It is a forgone conclusion there is no love loss between PC gamers and console gamers. A lot of it stems from the idea that Sony doesn’t give a rat’s ass about PC gamers. If history is a proof, that would be a true assessment. Their past record of making proprietary accessories that can’t be used on a computer. Anyone remember the overpriced memory stick for the PSP? This shouldn’t come as a surprise when I say that Sony has quietly removed Ghost of Yotei from their PC port list. Shocking, huh?

This would confirm recent reports that Ghost of Yotei PC port was scrapped late in development. Some reports have claimed that it was completed when Sony decided to scrap it.

“On PlayStation Studios’ official site,”TechSpot reported.Sony has updated the main banner to prominently feature Ghost of Yotei and Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet, while Demon’s Souls Remake no longer appears in the lineup.“

Sony does hate gamers.

Bluepoint Games and Dark Outlaw Games have been removed from the site’s studio lineup. Currently, Sony lists teamLFG instead, describing it as a new first-party outfit made up of former Bungie developers. Why this story is important is that the game was scheduled to be released on PC this October.

Ghost of Yotei May be the First in a Long Line

Earlier reports indicated that Marvel’s Wolverine PC port is canceled too. Obviously, there is no official reason to to why the games were canceled. Why would there be? They haven’t officially announced the cancellations anyway. However, the reasoning behind it, spreading online, is kind of silly.

It might hurt future sales of the PlayStation 5 and/or 6. As expected, many of the comments are people that have not purchased a PlayStation since the PSP or PlayStation 3 era. So, I don’t think that may be the sole reason. Another said because the upcoming Xbox will be a Windows PC. Again, I don’t see that.

If you’re gaming on this, you’re not using a console.

Many of the PC games come out years after the console version is released. Yeah, I knew a few people that would purchase the game on PC. However, they have a slew of games that are in the library from Steam and haven’t played through yet.

Remember when Sony was doing that “play games on everything” program. Play on your TV to your console to your toaster. Then when it didn’t take off in its first six months, they cut it. Not to mention there are a lot of PC ports of triple A games that are garbage.

Personally, I think someone got cold feet – in traditional Sony style. I seriously doubt Sony would be hurt if they released it. It will be interesting to see what their reason will be if they ever acknowledge what they did. But I wouldn’t hold my breath for that moment.
