The long-standing joke is that people forget Peacock exists. Back in 2025, Google boasted that YouTube Premium had 125 million subscribers, worldwide. Since Comcast is looking to spin-off NBCUniversal, they need to find ways to make some revenue. This is an interesting one. Starting in 2027, Peacock will be offered free with YouTube Premium subscribers.

For subscribers, this means:

  • All-in-one entertainment: In addition to existing YouTube Premium features including ad-free viewing on YouTube, background play, downloads and YouTube Music, subscribers will gain access to ad-supported Peacock Premium.
  • Stream the best of NBCUniversal: On Peacock, dive into marquee live sports, award-winning and blockbuster movies, and hit series – including the NFL, NBA, Saturday Night Live, Love Island USA, and Law & Order: SVU – right on YouTube.
  • More flexibility: We’ll also be introducing international bundles and options to let subscribers upgrade their Peacock membership and choose the best plan for them.

Just recently, Peacock was able to turn a profit. This is an interesting move. Obviously, Peacock is hoping that people that view the ad-supported version will be chomping at the bit to upgrade. The problem is that more than half of Americans are using free services rather than paying. There are very few services I would be willing to pay for, especially for ad-free.

Peacock is Coming Free to YouTube Premium Customers

YouTube is definitely one of them. Before you start saying, “I use Brave”. STFU. You know you think you sound cool when you say that, but you don’t. You sound like a douchebag. I view YouTube on my TV. You can skip ads after 30 to 50 seconds, which seems like forever sometimes. I did a review of YouTube Premium Lite, which is a cheaper option.

Back to my point, it is rather unlikely that free Peacock users will upgrade to paying ad-free. The prices are not worth the benefits, especially for something limited as Peacock. I had Peacock for a year (for $20) and I still forgot I had it. So, I’m curious to see how this works out in the end.
