It almost seems like once a week, I keep getting surveys regarding Facebook. Yes, I participate in that YouGov survey program. Does pretty well since I get paid in gift cards when I reach a certain point threshold. But that isn’t the point. Without flaw, they always ask me whether I believe Facebook, or Meta, does a good job protecting children on their platform. My answer is a resounding “not on your life”. With the recent accusations of AI child abuse slop, it further proves my point.
As we reported back in August, they love xenophobic AI slop. Apparently, Futurism realizes Facebook loves something more than anti-Muslim hate, AI child abuse videos. Back in September, they reported the platform was “hosting enormous numbers of graphic AI-generated videos of physical child abuse.” It showed graphic images of “kids being beaten, burned, dragged by their hair, locked in cages, and more.”
In response to the questions from Futurism, Facebook and Meta apparently “dragged” its feet in action and response. Turning themselves into pretzels attempting to justify why it didn’t violate their own policies. When they reported the story, the video linked in the story was removed. In fact, the account had been removed.
Facebook has no problem with AI child abuse slop
You think that was good, right? Well, some time later, the account was restored as well as all their videos. The publication reached again, asking why? “Just wanted to let you know that we’re looking into this,” Meta’s statement read. “I’m not sure of an exact timeline, but I will let you know when I learn more.”
Last month, Wired reported Facebook had allowed hundreds of advertisements that included overtly sexual material of real children. Remember, the youngest age allowed on the platform is 13.
When Meta sends me another survey about Facebook, I am completely honest. They ask me if I believe is Meta is on the same side as parents, or on the opposite. I always answer “on the opposite side”. Regardless of which platform they are referring to. Facebook knows most kids aren’t using their platform anymore. But they know the perverts are.
