Apple to Split iPhone Event

It appears that Apple may be doing something a little different when introducing new iPhones in 2026. If a report by The Information is to be believed. Their source, or sources, are three unnamed supply chain people. All familiar with the situation, will be splitting their next Apple iPhone launch into two separate events. One of which will drop in the fall of 2026, while another will happen in spring of 2027.

According to the report, there will be a traditional iPhone event in the fall. This will focus on higher end iPhone devices. So we would see models like the iPhone 18 Pro, iPhone 18 Pro Max, and that mythical foldable iPhone see announced in the fall.

In the spring of 2027, we would see an event around the base models. Devices like the iPhone 18 base model, the iPhone 18 Slim and the iPhone 18e.

Splitting an iPhone Event Makes Sense

Now, there is no real reason given as to why they would want to break up these events. This is where I have a theory. Given the fact that the iPhone are still their biggest draw, having a year between the release with no real news may be having an impact on their bottom line.

Yes, they do have another announcement during the year to show off their new airpods, iPads, and what have you. This could help Apple keep the buzz going roughly every six months as opposed to once a year. With the cost of luxury items are increasing, having the high end coming in before the holidays and the lower end coming after the fact.

It is important to understand that both high and low end devices will get their own marketing cycle. Too many absolutely good lower end items get overshadowed. The higher end merchandise that people don’t know that there is something more inexpensive.

In the end, it could help Apple maximize their iPhone line, especially when other companies dominate the Apple off-time. Although, it may not fair well due to the tech media inability to review low-end devices on their own merit, instead of saying “it’s not as good as the Pro version.”
