There are a lot of things I wish I could do. Most of which is make up my goddamn mind. I terminated The Gen-Xer Pod for the reasons of simplifying my work flow and combine it with The Lazy Geeks. However, the more I was on social media, I kept seeing bullshit about how Gen X is the best. While a few are billionaires making our present worse, a decent sect believe that bootlicking will result in a few scrapes. Gen X Loser is me trying to give my generation a reality check. Maybe offer some advice to younger generations to do what we couldn’t, or some wouldn’t, do.
Gen X Loser will focus on some of the issues facing society today and dive into how we got here. Some ideas on how we could get out of it. However, given that the oldest members of my generation is 62 and the youngest is 46, there will be no hope to gain their support.
Gen X Loser is Not About All Gen X
Of course, this isn’t to classify all Gen X into a type of “asshole generation”. This will, also, be used to debunk myths. Just because something happened in your sphere of influence, doesn’t mean it was globally commonplace.
For instance, many will claim that millennials got participation ribbons. We did not. That wasn’t true. I received many participation ribbons while in elementary school. They were usually give out for science fair displays and art shows. Oh, and need I say, this was at an evangelical Christian school.
The common reference I’ll make is that this was a case of “generational dysmorphia”. I’ll cover more about this in my first episode. I coin this as a twisted view of your childhood. We believe things about our lives as to excuse things we may not have liked about it.
The first episode will drop on Friday, March 20. It is available on Apple Podcast, Spotify, Pocket Cast, or anywhere you get your podcasts.
