Back in July, we lost our self-hosted site. Not because we didn’t want it, it was down to money. Hosting is be pretty expensive. We started a fundraiser to help us move to another hosting company. Those efforts fell short. I don’t blame anyone, but I began working on migrating things back to our free site. A back-up blog that I started but chose to not get rid of. I do learn from mistakes. After a month and a half, we got our self-host website back. The Lazy Geeks begin again. Like the Taylor Swift song.

After so many downs during the first half of 2026, you don’t know how good a win feels. Simply through the law of averages, you have to win one sometime. This wasn’t helped by a fan; it was done through work on my part.

Over the last weekend, I started working on things. Really started thinking about the whole “piracy isn’t theft” bit. While I was feeling lucky, I chose to “acquire” some software from Microsoft and Adobe. The Adobe decision was based after some YouTube videos got me angry enough. It has been a week and they all work perfectly fine. Keep in mind, it wasn’t 365, Photoshop, or Premiere. They work hard to protect those.

Not everything was smooth when I started to relaunch the site. Images didn’t transfer over. I had to relink many stories. As well as decide what to delete and what to keep.

The Lazy Geeks Begin Again

As The Lazy Geeks begin again, things will be different. A lot of it comes from a personal side. Don’t allow my emotions to get the better of me. Remember regrowing this will take time. Speak my voice. During that time, I had been releasing The Lazy Geeks podcast. Doing a Monday “Headlines” episode, which recaps news stories of the past week. Then a “Discussion” Friday episode with Adam. Those episodes are released on a bi-weekly basis.

The Disgruntled Cinephile has been worked on. Have Magnum Force in the can, while finishing up Death Wish. The hope is to be three episodes ahead before I relaunch them. Also, I have planned out the schedule for the remainder of the year. October will focus on scary movies, while November will feature Thanksgiving content. Of course, December will feature holiday movies. Not everything will be as you think.

Two New Additions Coming

After some issues I had with someone over Great American Sh*t Show, I have retained the rights to it. Even though, looking back, I should’ve never relented. My mental space allowed myself to be bullied until I had a friend jump in. Since I’m starting with a clean slate, I will relaunch it as a weekly podcast that will focus on our “shit show”.

There is something new coming out. Something a bit more personal. Mid-Life Kind of Life will be weekly show that focuses on things I’ve learn since becoming middle-aged. If you’ve followed me for some time, you know my life has been in upheaval since 2021. Unable to fix things, I am now in Arizona with a focus on getting out. Discuss things that my parents and society told me to do, and none of it turned out that way. Being a geek and middle-age. Attempting to unlearn was I was taught and find a new path forward.

I debated on doing this one through The Lazy Geeks banner, or as a standalone. However, when I was looking at some topics, I decided that there is some nostalgia and some geek content. Figured this would work there. At least, in the very beginning.

That Sounds Like a Lot

I know it does. As since I’m still unemployed, I figure focus my energies on this. Maybe I can make something out of it. Give it a full on try, as I should have before. As someone in their fifties, I am too expensive for smaller, part-time jobs. But not experienced enough for the jobs I had before. Even going to give social media a try. See if I can do something with YouTube and TikTok.

There are a few things I need to keep in mind going forward. I have internalized them and focus on them every day. Even over the last three days migrating the site. I normally would have given up frustrated. However, I calmed myself down and said I had no time limit when to get it out. Yet, I did it incredibly fast. The Lazy Geeks begin again with more of the same. But approaching it with more vigor and determination.

I mean, when you get a chance to begin again, and you learned something from it, you do it. Do it the way it should have been done the first time. Otherwise, you’re just wasting your chance. I am not doing that again.
