There has been speculation for years about how big the file size would be for Grand Theft Auto 6. Some sizes speculating on social media up to 300GB. Well, it seems that it will be nearly 100GB smaller. A Twitter account originally posted that the file size would be 210GB. This may allow some users to breathe a sigh of relief. Still, that GTA 6 file size will still take up a bit of storage.
Should we set that much aside on our consoles? That sounds like a more realistic number. Problem with some reporting is that some are saying that the size was confirmed. It was not confirmed.
Insider Gaming was reporting the same information based on the same Twitter post. Yet, Kotaku reports in their piece that it was confirmed by Insider Gaming’s reporting. Which it wasn’t. Their post only shares the original social media post.
GTA 6 File Size isn’t the Biggest
In Insider Gaming’s “confirmation” didn’t verify anything. When someone “verifies” or “confirms” something, there is usually another source that says the same thing. Simply seeing a site that reports the same thing isn’t confirmation.
However, in the currently landscape, no one truly understand how words work. If the second piece said they had another source that said it was 210 GB, then that would be confirmation. Reporting off the original isn’t confirmation.
This is where we need to be careful how we use words.
With all that being said, games like GTA 6, is a reason we need larger hard drive space. Much like the iPhone, when they started with small storage sizes. We cannot start gaming consoles with 500GB. I have external storage space for my PlayStation 4.
Consoles need to account for game sizes. All consoles should start with 1 TB, minimum. Otherwise, have fun deleting games to allow the new GTA 6 file size to fit.
