At some point within the year, I may finally upgrade to a PlayStation 5. Yeah, I said a PS5. As someone who has purchased every iteration of the console since the PSOne, I found no powerful push to upgrade. There hasn’t (in my opinion) been enough games that would force me to grab one. With the internet being certain that the PlayStation 6 will drop in 2027, Sony itself isn’t so sure.
Recent comment made by Sony’s CEO has the internet buzzing. I get why. With the memory crisis making things more expensive, it has made some companies know that there are ceilings. Although, some understand that it would be more expensive to manufacture and then sell, people will only take so much. During an interview with the Wall Street Journal, Sony CEO Hiroki Totoki said that the company hasn’t laid out an exact launch date.
And this makes sense.
Yet, the internet couldn’t possibly understand. With all the controversy that the company is in, it may make sense to calm things down a bit. From going discless in 2028 to ignoring the market, Sony can’t play like Microsoft. They become shaky when the internet makes fun of them.
Sony’s PlayStation 6 may not launch in 2027
Remember, the 2027 release window wasn’t something announced by the company. Even for Microsoft for that matter. This was all based on an internet rumor. When someone claims a rumor online, it becomes confirmed simply by the amount it is repeated. Repeat a lie enough times, people start believing it.
If this questioning is true, than it makes sense they would have to hold back. Not just for Sony, but for Microsoft as well. I think they should wait until things settle down. That’s just my opinion. But what do I know? That isn’t much.
