When I first saw this story, it didn’t strike me as odd. However, when I saw the comments made me laugh. The Sony riders really love coming down on jokes about the old Xbox One. I’ll get into that later on. This was all started by the announcement that the PS5 Live TV is hitting consoles as of Tuesday.

Everyone will be able to stream free. It is ad-supported TV (FAST) channels. Just think of Pluto TV, Roku TV, or whatever. This one is just for Sony. The console’s media tab will offer more than 100 live channels from Sony Pictures Television along with on-demand options. There are channels for movies, TV shows, anime (of course, given Sony owns Crunchyroll), news, sports, documentaries and more.

The movie channels include action, sci-fi and horror. Offerings will be from the likes of MovieSphere by Lionsgate, 50 Cent Action and Sony One Horror Hits. You’ll be able to watch TV shows such as Community, The Walking Dead, Deal or No Deal USA, Fear Factor and Ice Road Truckers. The anime options include Naruto, Sailor Moon, Hunter x Hunter and Death Note. There are channels showing gaming, esports, podcasts and comedy programming.

PS5 Live TV Has Come to Consoles

Getting back to what I was talking about earlier. When the Xbox One was announced in 2013, Microsoft was pushing that the Xbox One was an entertainment system. So many people complained that it lost its way. Gave the middle finger to gamers. Then Sony touted that the PlayStation was for the gamers.

Jump some thirteen years later, Sony is making the same statement. Their bootlickers complained that Sony is doing what everyone else has been doing. Difference is that all consoles are entertainment centers. What’s funny is that 13 years later, Sony is becoming what Microsoft tried to be.
