A little over a month ago, I made the decision to launch a Patreon. I made the account a long time ago, but never pulled the trigger on it. That may have been ill-advised, but you never know until you try. So, it has gained zero traction. Of course, a month isn’t a good amount of time for it to move. I understand that. However, with some of the changes I am making with the brand, this might be a good time to pause.
Now, when I say pause, I don’t mean you won’t be able to join. Some of you may be asking, “didn’t you mention this already?” To which I would say, yes. However, there are some caveats that I didn’t mention. When I said “pause”, that meant I won’t be releasing the regular amount of content for a bit. That is due mostly to the fact that I am trying to catch up. However, there is one podcast that I won’t need to.

The Lazy Geeks podcast will not be taking a break, but it is shifting a bit. It will become a bi-weekly podcast. Since I record them in advance, I will be able to have it edited and released early for Patreon members. That is if anyone wants to become one. I have opted to drop the news episodes (and the promised deep dives) to allow me the ability to work on improving the quality of the other shows.
The Patreon is technically on hold
I am working on creating a backlog of episodes of The Disgruntled Cinephile. I had developed a Patreon only version of that podcast, becoming a minisode. It would focus on 15 minute episodes that would give a quick review of recent movies like Star Wars: Mandalorian and Grogu, Obsession, Supergirl, and Backrooms to name a few. I think I’ll release those on the main feed as bonus episodes. Those will drop when I restart the original show.

I am attempting to make a video version of that show, as well. I doubt I will appear on camera, but I am recording a YouTube version of the script and will add some video to it.
As I said in a previous post, I will be releasing a new podcast, which will go into deep dives. I am hoping to have that released sometime in August. When I release them on the main feed, they will be available for early access through Patreon.
With that being said, I still am planning to keep the Patreon going. Give it fair chance. Hoping that improving the content of the shows will inspire people to sign up. But, you never know. However, I think I will drop the $10 tier, which was designed for people that truly want to support us. Make that the $7 tier. $5 will get you early access to all the shows and $7 will be if you really want to support us.
That’s it for right now. I’ll let you all know when things are back to full power.
