Hot off the heels of Peacock raising their prices last week, Apple has decided that tit-for-tat was necessary. Apple TV price increase has arrived for new subscribers. They say existing subscribers will be notified of the price increase about a month before they are charged the new price. At least, they are given a month notice before they stab you through the heart again.

Here are the full details on the price increases:

It is interesting that when Apple did their last increase, they chose not to increase the price of the individual Apple One plan. Now, we know why. It has been a year since there was a price increase for their TV streaming plan.

Apple TV Price Increase

Now, I will be honest here, Apple TV price increase seems fairer than that of Peacock. The latest season of Ted Lasso is currently near its halfway mark. They have so many new shows that capture people’s attention. Far much more than Peacock, and more than Netflix.

There are quite a few good shows that are on that service than even Amazon. While there are one good show on various services, Apple always seems to have the most consistent array of quality shows.

Many times, when you determine price increases, it is price versus quantity. I meant to say “quantity”. You can have one great show that give you great quality, but what about the rest of the time? Paramount is the worst offender. For me, outside of Star Trek there is nothing there that keeps me.

Before the Ellison takeover, I would wait until a Star Trek series was over, pay for a month. Binge the show. See if there was anything else, then cancel at the end of the month. Now, I don’t given them any money. Nudge, nudge. Wink, wink.
